Patient Needs Drive Research Dedication

In early 2025, Retina and Vitreous Consultants of Wisconsin (RVCoW), Ltd., formed the Retina Research Center of Wisconsin, the first retina only research organization in the state of Wisconsin.  Since 1983, RVCoW continues to expand its extensive breadth of Southeastern Wisconsin geographic coverage, patient diversity, and volume of patients.  While new therapeutics have advanced retina the last decade, a continued sentiment has always been Is there anything else available? or Does your practice offer clinical trials?

Capacity constraints historically limited this pursuit, but with RVCoW’s recent  location  and physician  growth, RVCoW formally committed to developing its research arm 2024. It invested heavily in its equipment , infrastructure and staffing which includes multiple research coordinators  and a research consultant with over 40 years of industry experience.   Our resources are directed at building a best-in-class meaningful clinical trial offering, where our patients have the option to participate locally and have exposure to novel therapeutics. 

Retina Research Center of Wisconsin has adopted multiple trials and continues to expand its offerings to patients that include more common retinal diseases such as diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration, but also less common diagnoses with no treatment options.  With our experience as a regional Inherited Retinal Disease center, we are pursuing clinical trials for gene therapy in these rare conditions.
